The Year of the Buttered Cat by Susan Haas with Lexi Haas

The Year of the Buttered Cat is a juvenile non-fiction moving story about how Lexi came to learn about what happened to her as a newborn that left her with a body that doesn’t work like the bodies around her—and what she’s choosing to do to help give herself a voice. It’s about friendship, motherhood, being a daughter, being a sibling, loving your pets, finding one’s way.

Susan Haas is a medical writer, dog-lover, and painfully slow runner. She's the #1 fan of her five adult kids and husband, Ken. Most days she would gladly trade the family cat for a Starbucks latte. She lives in Charlotte, NC.

11:00am - 11:30am:

Mansa's Little Reminders by A.D. Williams and Kendal Fordham Cann

Mansa’s little Reminders is a book long overdue that highlights the life of an inner-city kid with big dreams but no direction, a strong and loving family with few resources. Mansa’s little Reminders introduces the fundamental strategies that can help bridge the financial literacy gap between the “haves” and the “have nots” in a way that is fun, relatable, and needed.

A.D. Williams learned early on how powerful representation is in books. Ensuring that kids can see and feel success through the lens of characters that look and face many of the same challenges they do. In addition to his writing, A.D. is a children hospital administrator, private investor, and entrepreneur.

Kendal Fordham Cann was born into the financial industry. Where other girls were learning to read with Dr. Seuss, Kendal was handed the Wall Street Journal.  Her life and experience has inspired her to co-author this children’s book.
